October 7, 2024 SCTAG Board Meeting
Meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm.
The general meeting notes of September 18 were approved.
Susan presented the Treasurer’s report. Patrice introduced a motion to approve the treasurer’s report, Alex seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.
The ideas for a 70th Anniversary banner similar to Roberta’s ideas for the bookmarks were –tabled until the anniversary committee does a focus discussion.
It was decided that pets will not be allowed at future meetings and events of the guild.
During the October general meeting, there will be a call for volunteers for the 70th anniversary celebration events.
The new password for the website for this year will be “felting”.
Elizabeth is in touch with Lynette Gross regarding the original artwork for the new bookmarks. We do not yet have a new logo. Susan and Elizabeth are working on it.
Marilou spoke about the need to develop affiliate business connections with local craft shops. Santa Cruz Vac and Sew is open to ideas, including Senior’s Tuesday and reward programs. We should also explore possibilities with Harts, Cabrillo Sewing, and yarn shops.
LeAnn will purchase a banner for the 70th anniversary celebrations.
LeAnn mentioned that the Castro Adobe wants us to give a talk about textile arts, but nobody is available at the moment to do it. We should develop a canned speech about the guild in Power Point. Patrice said we should seek volunteers for a “speakers bureau” as part of marketing ourselves.
Programs
Ann mentioned that Vicky’s weaving workshop for April has not been finalized because Vicky has not finished the contract. Currently we are talking about $195 for a 2 day workshop plus materials and facility rental for a second day, which would come out to about $250 total per person. We chose “weaving on a simple loom” for the workshop content.
There was discussion about the June picnic at the Blueball Park. We need to find out the cost.
The December holiday party will be on December 11. Members can bring guests for $5 each. It is a true potluck party. There will be no kitchen privileges, but we need to find out if we can use the microwaves. There will be games and prizes. We will send out an invitation to all members.
The current program schedule is:
- November – presentation by interest groups
- December – holiday party
- January – framing
- February – hardanger with Bruce
- March – not finalized
- April – weaving with Vicky
- May – distaff spinning
- June – picnic
- Brown fashion and fabrics presentation can be moved to next year.
Elizabeth has worked with Bruce on a document on the website under links which has information about programs for the next person who takes it up.
The next Anniversary Committee meeting will be at 5:00 on Monday, October 14.
Elizabeth introduced a motion to adjourn the meeting, Patrice seconded and the meeting concluded at 4:53 pm.
