Present: Marilou Moschetti, Bruce Fihe, LeAnn Bjelle, Joan Vierra, Amy Chirman
1. Equipment List
It’s time to update the list of Guild-owned equipment. Marilou has the existing list compiled by Janette G., and Joan V. will take lead on the update starting the end of January. Members who are currently using or storing any Guild equipment are asked to notify Joan by phone of what they have.
2. Refunds
Credit card use fees are charged by the card company for every transaction—purchases and refunds. Guild policy is that purchase fees charged by the card company are paid by the buyer. A suggestion was made that a new Guild policy be established wherein refund fees charged by the credit card company become the responsibility of the person receiving the refund. A motion was made articulating this proposed policy; the motion was seconded, opportunity for further discussion was provided, a vote was taken, and the vote passed unanimously. This policy will go into effect immediately.
What refund process happens when someone who has paid for a workshop drops out and is replaced by someone on the waiting list? A suggestion was made that if a person has to drop out of a workshop after the refund cutoff date, the Guild would provide a refund in full (minus the credit card fee if applicable) IF the workshop is full (ie. there is a waitlist that allows the workshop to remain filled after the dropout). A motion was made articulating this proposed policy; the motion was seconded, opportunity for further discussion was provided, a vote was taken, and the vote passed unanimously. This policy will go into effect immediately.
3. Guild Officers
The annual Guild Officer turnover occurs in June. Marilou will be stepping down, and LeAnn will be stepping down in October when her identified Programs Chair replacement is able to start. The Programs Committee is also seeking participants to ensure Guild workshops can continue to occur. Interested members are asked to speak with the current Officers for information about position responsibilities and time commitments.
4. Bylaws and Board Job Descriptions
These documents are in the process of being updated and will be discussed further at the February 12 Board meeting.
5. Programs
All programs for 2024 are set. February’s meeting is a play day. Linda Craighead may be a possible future workshop provider, and Bruce F. has offered to provide a tablet weaving workshop.
