November 11, 2024 SCTAG Board Meeting Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm
Susan presented the Treasurer’s report and mentioned the format is slightly different because of CNCH rules. Susan said we have eight new members, but that an equal number of members had not yet renewed their membership.
LeAnn said anyone leading a 70th Anniversary Celebration event needs to be a current member.
Marilou brought up we need to shake the jar at every meeting to encourage our members to donate towards the library space rental.
The Handweavers Guild of America has a weekly program called Tea and Textiles. The cost to sponsor a program is $150. We should find out what is entailed.
Alex will summarize the ideas for next year’s anniversary celebration and will pass around a 70th Anniversary events signup during the December meeting.
LOGO
Roberta has nine possibilities for a logo. She will do a slide show presentation at the December general meeting showing the logo designs. The members will decide via a ranked choice vote which one will be our new logo. The bookmarks and the 70th Anniversary banner both need the new logo, so we have to get the vote done in December.
PROGRAMS
The June picnic at Blueball Park rental will be $160.00. We’ll have to cancel the June meeting at the senior center.
Elizabeth proposed a budget of $100 over the rental fee for program expenses for the picnic. LeAnn seconded and it was approved unanimously.
Elizabeth gave an update on the holiday party. It is to be a potluck. Members can bring guests for $5 each. There will be games. The senior center will be decorated the week before. LeAnn will do a history display for the party. Elizabeth needs help with the layout of the bingo game and Susan will help.
Marilou proposed we adopt a family for the holiday season and bring gifts to the party.
WEBSITE
Bruce is reorganizing the website and making backend changes for technical reasons. He needs pricing information for the four upcoming workshops in order to program the signups.
It can be difficult to get space at the senior center and we need to schedule workshops early to get on their calendar. Since Patrice is a member of MCSC, she will coordinate workshop dates. The September meeting has a conflict so we need to figure out which room we will be using.
BAZAAR
The Craft Manager at MCSC has invited the guild to participate in their holiday bazaar on December 7. The fee is $35 per two table booth.
Elizabeth proposed the guild pay the $35 fee for the booth and a voluntary donation to the guild of 10% of sales from the participants. Susan seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Alex will coordinate the holiday bazaar booth.
