Presentation by Bonnie Britton
“Textile Adventure Travel in West Africa and Other Diversions”
In the 1970’s, Bonnie and her, then, 8-year old daughter traveled to Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Ghana and Burkina Faso collecting textiles, taking photographs and leading a tour. Three tables and 6 members modeling garments showed off some of her many treasures which included bronze castings, looms, stitched and indigo-dyed shibori textiles, a type of mud cloth from Mali, a roll of handspun and strip-woven fabric, kente cloth, books and even an amazing crocheted costume and headpiece she’d created upon her return. Wow. What a treat!
The meeting adjourned at 12:15.
Respectfully submitted,
Kris Nardello, Secretary
